Daily Manga

I had actually been avoiding this one for years because when I read it in middle school, I wasn't very into it. But I figured I had to give it another chance & started rereading it a few months back. That was one of the best choices I've ever made, lol. It's ana amazing story. Long, very entertaining, & extremely well written/illustrated. It's comical yet serious with great art. The name fits it perfectly. So, if you've yet to read this one; I definately recommend it. It's probably in my top 10.

「風光る」
Kaze Hikaru

Mangaka: 渡辺多恵子 (Watanabe Taeko)
Genre: Action, Gender Bender, Historical, Romance, Shoujo
Summary: "In the year 1863, a time fraught with violent social upheaval, samurai of all walks of life flock to Kyoto in the hope of joining the Mibu-Roshi--a band of warriors united around their undying loyalty to the Shogunate system. In time, this group would become one of the greatest (and most famous) movements in Japanese history... the Shinsengumi!

In 2003 Kaze Hikaru won the Shogakukan Manga Award for shoujo." - Baka-Updates

Daily BL

A BL manhua adapted from a Chinese novel. (Novel can be found on Sooky's LJ.) Beautiful art and a pretty interesting story. BL manhua has really caught my eye lately, yet most of the ones I come across are crap. So I' glad there are so great BL novelist/manhuaga's like these two, out there. If you'd like to try something new & see some beautiful BL; this is a great choice.

「鳳于九天」
Feng Yu Jiu Tian

Manhuaga: 王一 (Wang Yi)

Summary: "Feng Ming was only 19 when he lost his life saving a child from death without hesitation. The grateful father of the rescued child grants Feng Ming a second chance at life. Unknown to Feng Ming, his soul is whisked away to a far away ancient land (resembling the dynasties of China).

However, his beauty has a price as he attracts the unwanted attention of the minister of affairs, Rong Tian who finds every reason to torment the prince mentally and physically. As Feng Ming starts to get a hold of the conspiracies surrounding him, what will happen when the prince's true identity is revealed? And what happened to the 'real' prince?" - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

So far this one looks pretty promising. It's a tale of the Gauls (the inhabitants of an old region, Gaul, the encomposed much of western Europe) resisting the control/take-over of the Romans. When the Gauls had given in, one man, Agrippa, arrives and sturs up revolt. And so the story begins. Good art and entertaining thus far.

「アグリッパ」
Agrippa

Daily Manga

Today's manga is a fun Taisho era mystery story. I just love the Taisho era, lol. Almost a pity I wasn't alive then. Such a beautiful blend of cultures. Reflected in everything. And such amazing literature. Anyways. It's got some great art and an entertaining story. Hope you enjoy.

「幻影博覧会」
Genei Hakurankai

Mangaka: 冬目景 (Toume Kei)
Genre: Historical, Mystery, Seinen

Daily Manga

Today's manga is one I had long been hoping to see scanned. When it was finally, recently, picked up, I was pleasantly surprised to see the group scanning it was Kotonoha. /Love explosion. This story is truly awesome. I just can't help loving a purely evil genius male lead. This story will, at some points, make you want to cry, and at others, make you want to laugh sadistically. The pure win of it. Complimented by the clean art style. This, to me, could not be more perfect. I can only hope you will enjoy it just as much.

「狼の口: ヴォルフスムント」
Wolfsmund

Mangaka: 久慈光久 (Kuji Mitsuhisa)
Genre: Action, Drama, Historical, Mature, Seinen, Tragedy
Summary: "Wolfsmund is a dark historical manga set in the early 14th century of Europe (Switzerland). The story revolves around the eponymous fortress in the St. Gotthard Pass which is ruled by a sadistic tyrant. Basically, each chapter deals with characters who for some reason have to cross the pass and who end up getting interrogated by the mentioned tyrant.

What sets this manga apart is the fact that there's rarely a happy ending for our protagonists. The author pulls no punches to show us just how brutal and inhuman the Middle Ages really were." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today's manga is a rather amazing work by a very promising new-comer (they even won an award for being so) & it happens to fall under an amazing amount of genres, lol. The art is, well, a bit questionable at time proportionally, but then again it /is/ a shounen manga and when it really counts it's very good. Well! I hope you like this. (& if you do; please keep an eye out for their future works!)

「進撃の巨人」
Shingeki no Kyojin

Mangaka: 諌山創 (Isayama Hajime)
Genre: Action, Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Horror, Mature, Mystery, Psychological, Shounen, Supernatural, Tragedy
Summary: "Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giants. Giants are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of giants.

Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Elen and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a super giant that appears out of thin air. As the smaller giants flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Elen vows that he will murder every single giant and take revenge for all of mankind.

Nominated for the 4th Manga Taisho Awards (2011)." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today's manhua is a great, full color compilation of oneshots based off of classic Chinese folk tales. Beautifully illustrated and translated in an easily understandable manner. The stories hold a sort of beautiful melancholy that I love. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I have.

Summary: "A series of oneshot illustrations of famous Chinese folk tales." - Baka-Updates

Daily BL

Today's BL is a wonderfully supernatural shounen ai called "The Mysterious Stories of Ghost Moon Tower"! It's by the great Ima Ichiko-sensei so the art and story are both great. I really love her youkai/mystery stories. They are the type that if you enjoy the supernatural of Japan you will not soon be forgetting her stories. Well. I hope you enjoy this one.

「幻月楼奇譚」
Gengetsurou Kitan

Mangaka: 今市子 (Ima Ichiko)
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Historical, Mystery, Shounen Ai, Supernatural

It may or may not be true that the young master is making amorous advances toward Yosaburou! Daily BL

Today's BL is pirate themed! (I just love pirates.) I'm pretty sure it's based off of a French book? (I think I actually have it too...yep. In my eBooks, lol. But then Baka-Updates says it's by Minami Fuuko. I'm a bit confused.) So the "manga version" is my favorite. It's got some great art and an interesting plot. The only thing that gets too me is how overly dramatized and feminized the main character is. Buut; It's easy to get over. So I hope you like it.

「コルセーア」
Corsair

Author: 水壬楓子 (Minami Fuuko)
Mangaka: 御園えりい (Misono Erii)
Genre: Adventure, Drama, Historical, Yaoi
Summary: "The powerful pirate clan Preveza holds control over the Morea Sea. Amongst the pirates is the clan's strategist, the blind but beautiful Canale, and the fleet commander, Ayace. Daily Manga

Today's manga is one you most likely already know. I'd not be surprised if you've all read or watched it already. So what is it? It is the amazing, award winning hit manga "Mushishi". Full of amazing art, incredible style, fun and fascinating adventures, one of the most interesting plots out there, and a main character that you can't help but love, this manga has even been turned into a great live action movie. Hope you enjoy.

「虫师」
Mushishi

Mangaka: 漆原 友紀 (Urushibara Yuki)
Genre: Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Mystery, Psychological, Seinen, Supernatural, Tragedy
Summary: "They exist in the most unexpected places -- be it within your eyes and ears, under the floor and roof of your house, or the trees and flowers in your garden. They are everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time. Are they alive or not? Perhaps it is more apt to say they are beings who transcend the concept of life and death itself...Or could it be that they are what scientists today describe as the 'primordial ooze' - the origins wherein all life arose billions of years ago?
They are mushi.
Some wreak havoc in the lives of humans; while others bring them deliverance from suffering. Mushi are neither good, nor evil; for just like any other creature, they are merely striving to survive in this harsh, competitive world.

Ginko - a lone wanderer with an intriguingly reclusive personality, offers help and guidance to those plagued by mushi. This is the tale of his travels and exploits in a wondrous world populated by these mysterious entities.

Mushishi won an Excellence Prize at the 2003 Japan Media Arts Festival and the 2006 Kodansha Manga Award." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Well, I've been watching Saraiya Goyou all day. I'd watched the first episode when it was released, but never got around to finishing it. I'd also been looking around for the raws of the later volumes. I have the first two from the last time I went to Kinokuniya (but sadly I've had no time to go recently). After just looking it up on bakaupdates, I am sad to say that it is licensed by the evil Viz. I truly hate how they butcher manga. But if you don't mind their terrible translations and/or spending money or renting it from a library, etc then I really recommend this beautiful series. Basso (Ono Natsume-sensei) is always amazing, and it shows even more so in this great work. I hope you get the chance to read it and that when you do, you will enjoy it too. The anime is also great, so if you are unable to get the manga or simply wish to watch it, I recommend that as well.

「さらい屋五葉」
Saraiya Goyou

Mangaka: オノ・ナツメ (Ono Natsume)
Genre: Action, Historical, Seinen, Slice of Life
Summary: "Masterless samurai Akitsu Masanosuke is a skilled and loyal swordsman, but his naïve, diffident nature has time and again caused him to be let go by the lords who have employed him. Hungry and desperate, he becomes a bodyguard for Yaichi, the charismatic leader of a gang called "Five Leaves." Although disturbed by the gang's sinister activities, Masa begins to suspect that Yaichi's motivations are not what they seem. And despite his misgivings, the deeper he's drawn into the world of the Five Leaves, the more he finds himself fascinated by these devious, mysterious outlaws." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today's manga is epic in a different way. It may be considered historical, but it is actually set in modern times. It deal with the memories of the Earth. I'm in a wild west sort of mood today. Probably from being worked so hard the past two days. -shudder- So today I'm sharing a really great (yet again) historical, seinen manga. Great art and a fun and captivating story. Enjoy.

Daily Manga

Today's manga is my 3rd all time favorite. Another long epic, and historical themed seinen manga. The art is pretty unique to the mangaka and pretty enjoyable. Sadly it lost the 1st place in the 10th Osamu Tezuka awards to another of my favorites; Ookiku Furikabutte. I hope it gets some better recognition soon. Well! Hope you like it.

「ヒストリエ」
Historie

Mangaka: 岩明均 (Iwaaki Hitoshi)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Historical, Mature, Seinen

Daily Manga

Sorry for the long absence! A lot of events collided into mayhem recently. Went home for Halloween, got caught up reading Machiavelli's "The Prince" & rereading the manga I'm sharing today, & then getting some work done on my hand. I have a ganglion-cyst in my left hand & it had been hurting recently. I ended up going to the doctor for it (again) & this time the doctor I saw decided to screw with it by jamming a needle in my hand and trying to suck it out. He failed terribly & refused to give up. I nearly passed out by the second, larger needle 10 minutes later. I hate needles. Anyways! I'm glad to be back! I'll probably be away for a few days around Thanksgiving & again around xmas if my hand doesn't get better. So for now I shall try to recommend amazing, epic, & rather long series to entertain you while I am away. xD; Today's manga has great art & an absolutely amazing story. It's the manga I love the most after "Monster". I've read some other works by this mangaka as well but, they aren't even comparable. Besides being different genres, the whole feel is so different I didn't even realize it was by the same person. That being said, I shall probably never recommend their other works. But I hope you enjoy this one!

「チェーザレ」
Cesare

Mangaka: 惣領冬実 (Souryo Fuyumi)
Genre: Drama, Historical, Seinen
Summary: "Bookish and naive, Angelo da Canossa is unprepared for life as a student in a university that hums with tension and intrigue in Renaissance Italy. Will his innocence remain intact when a chance encounter with the charismatic Cesare draws him ever deeper into the darker side of the Renaissance?" - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today I feel like posting my number one, all time favorite manga. It is the most beautiful, entertaining, genius thing I have ever read. The pure insanity of one of the main characters is so incredibly beautiful that you wont be able to resist loving him. Like yesterday's, today's has a "slight" BL overtone. not sure if it's intentional but I love it either way. There's also some amazing fanart of the insane man that I'll post later. But sadly the actual manga art of him isn't as beautiful (however it's perfect for the story so it's all good). Well! Really hope you love it. Enjoy~

「モンスター」
Monster

Mangaka: 浦沢 直樹 (Urusawa Naoki)
Genre: Action, Drama, Historical, Mature, Mystery, Psychological, Seinen
Summary: "Monster weaves the riveting story of brilliant Dr. Kenzo Tenma, a famous surgeon with a promising career at a leading hospital. Tenma risks his reputation and promising career to save the life of a critically wounded young boy. Unbeknownst to him, this child is destined for a terrible fate. A string of strange and mysterious murders begin to occur soon afterward, ones that professionally benefit Dr. Tenma, and he emerges as the primary suspect. Conspiracies, serial murders, and a scathing depiction of the underbelly of hospital politics are all masterfully woven together in this compelling manga thriller.

The series won an Excellence Prize at the 1997 Japan Media Arts Festival and the Shogakukan Manga Award in 2001."-Baka-Updates

Daily BL

Today's BL is one of my favorites. It features some sexy butler raep! 8D Who doesn't love that?! And following the daily mangas theme, it's set in the Taisho era. (I am obsessed.) The art is clean (not pure) and simply beautiful, while the story so far is intense and addicting~ The title translates to "Melancholic Morning". Well! Enjoy it!

「憂鬱な朝」
Yuuutsu na Asa

Mangaka: 日高ショーコ (Hidaka Shoko)
Genre: Drama, Histroical, Yaoi
Summary: "After the death of his father, Akihito Kuze became the family head of a viscountcy at the age of 10. A major-domo, Tomoyuki Katsuragi, who has both brains and beauty, takes care of the young master. Katsuragi is talented and very popular in society, but he is cold to Akihito. Does Katsuragi hate Akihito!? Akihito begins to be attracted to Katsuragi and wants to know the reason why Katsuragi is cold to him and…!?
A classical romance of a young viscount and a butler."-Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Holy snap?! It seems I've been "pimped"?! So to return the favor (Ty btw.) I must return the pimping! So here we go!; 腐女子です!♡ the blog of a highly knowledgeable, high level fujoshi! Gotta love that~ Looking through it she has some awesome taste~ & an envious collection~ D; So check her site! ;D & onto the main topic; Today's manga is set in my beloved Taisho era~ I recommended it a few months ago on TM, but, well, I've befriended many new awesome people sense (& you are all too lazy to read back) so I'll make it easy for you! Daily Manga

Today's manga is by the amazing maid loving mangaka of Emma! So there's obviously great art and a pretty entertaining, fun, pure story. There's a sequel to this that I'll share tomorrow, so enjoy this one for today, na? (And thanks for visiting!)

「シャーリー」
Shirley

Mangaka: 森 薫 (Mori Kaoru)
Genre: Drama, Historical, Seinen, Slice of Life
Summary: "Yet another maid-tastic manga from Kaoru Mori, "Shirley" is an evocative glimpse into the daily life of winsome, 13-year-old Shirley, a maid in turn-of-the-century England. It is often compared to Yokahama Kaidashi Kikou, as both mangas feature languid pacing, atmospheric backgrounds, and a female main character who works in a cafe.

If you like YKK, have a weakness for "cute," and/or have a maid fetish, this is the manga for you. No hentai, no fanservice, zero, zip, nada. Just pure maid-tastic moemoe." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Sorry for not posting these past few days. You all know I'm a lazy ass though. But I have been following the dispute between China and Japan for the Senkaku Islands (although we all know it is legally Japan's and China is just being an ass). The rumors of what actually happened in the islands between the two countries is quite stirring. I'm actually excited for something to happen, lol. At any rate! today's manga is, yet again, a recent release. It's one I'm very attracted to though. The art is good but the genre is my favorite; Heian Japan! A sexy, "crazy" ex-prince, and a crazy good, slightly traumatized onmyouji who lost all his powers. Have fun with it!

「暁の闇」
Akatoki no Yami

Mangaka: かわい有美子 (Kawai Yumiko)
Genre: Fantasy, Historical, Shoujo, Supernatural
Summary: "It is the Heian era (794-1185); Kamo Yorimichi is a young onmyouji, the son of a famous onmyouji leader of the imperial court. As a boy, he had been hailed for his incredible talent - but a certain incident during childhood stripped him of all his memories and the ability to 'see'.
Koretaka Shinnou, once the crown prince renowned for his brilliant mind and steadfast personality, is now in exile - supposedly as punishment for murder. Upon their first meeting, Yorimichi's powers are instantly re-awakened. Intrigued by what he believes to be Koretaka's amazing abilities, Yorimichi decides to swear allegiance to the prince." - Baka-Updates
