Daily Manga

A short oneshot from Nakamura Asumiko-sensei. It's incredibly beautiful. In every way. & If you've seen "The Man in The Iron Mask" with Leonardo De Caprio; It's quite similar, but better. Full color with Nakamura-sensei's amazing art. Anyways. I loved this one & hope you will too.

Daily Manga

"The Place Promised in Our Early Days", adapted by the amazing Sahara Mizu-sensei. I've only read chapter one so far, but I can promise I'll be reading it to the very end (& probably be wishing for more when it ends.) Sahara-sensei's incredible art just makes Shinkai-sensei's stories all the better. So, I hope you'll like it as well.

「雲のむこう、約束の場所」
Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho

Mangaka: 佐原ミズ (Sahara Mizu)
Author: 新海誠 (Shinkai Makoto)
Genre: Drama, Psychological, Romance, Sci-fi, Seinen
Summary: "In an alternate history of the aftermath of World War II, Japan has been cleaved in half, with the south—Honshu and the other islands—allied with the United States and the northern island Hokkaido annexed by the enigmatic Union. It was on Hokkaido that a mysterious tower had been built, a strand of metal reaching up out of the atmosphere, visible from the northern tip of Honshu. In 1996, three teenagers, Hiroki, Takuya and Sayuri, make a pact—they will build an experimental aircraft, almost invisible to surveillance, cross over to Hokkaido and unlock the secrets of the tower. Their dream was never realized, because Sayuri was sent to Tokyo for treatment after she fell into a coma. It is now three years later. The rosy illusions of youth have fallen away, but not the unbreakable strength of the trio’s promise. The truth of the tower will be uncovered, and with it, the link between it and Sayuri’s mysterious, carefully tended condition." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Eve no Jikan is another great Seinen manga based off of a hit novel. I had started watching the animation a while back but never finished, so I was ecstatic when I saw this being scanned. Good art & a nice feel. And interesting & entertaining story that almost makes one wish for such robots. I always love it when you can make sci-fi a slice of life story as well. Worth a read & watch (the animation has great art.)

「イヴの時間」
Eve no Jikan

Mangaka: 太田 優姫 (Oota Yuuki)
Author: 吉浦 康裕 (Yoshiura Yasuhiro)
Genre: Sci-fi, Seinen, Slice of Life
Summary: "The future, probably Japan. Robots have long been put into practical use, and androids have just come into use.

Influenced by the Robot Ethics Committee, it's become common sense for people to treat androids like household appliances. Their appearance - indistinguishable from humans except for the ring over each android's head - has led some people to empathize unnecessarily with androids. Known as "android-holics", such people have become a social problem.

Rikuo, a high school student, has been taught from childhood that androids are not to be viewed as humans, and has always used them as convenient tools. One day Rikuo discovers some strange data in the behavior records of his family's household android, Sammy.

Rikuo and his friend Masaki trace Sammy's movements, only to discover a mysterious café that features a house rule that "humans and robots are to be treated the same"..." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

A very good & well known novel (made anime & now manga). Written by the same man that created Hoshi no Koe. Great art by the mangaka who adapted it. A very good, bitter-sweet, realistic story about first love, separation, losing one's self and dreams, & starting again. Most definitely worth a read (& watch. Hell. Buy the novel.)

Daily Manga

Today's manga is a fun Taisho era mystery story. I just love the Taisho era, lol. Almost a pity I wasn't alive then. Such a beautiful blend of cultures. Reflected in everything. And such amazing literature. Anyways. It's got some great art and an entertaining story. Hope you enjoy.

「幻影博覧会」

Daily Manga

Today's manga is one I just stumbled across but find to be very interesting and promising. Maybe it's because I grew up in a town full of this shit but I somewhat felt at ease reading it, lol. Well, anyways, the theme is pretty much crime, gangsters, prostitution, and from what I can tell; an abusive, possibly mafia, family. Great art and a good story. A bit graphic; definitely "Mature". I hope you enjoy it as well.

「ギャングスタ」
Gangsta.

Mangaka: Kosuke
Genre: Action, Mature, Romance, Seinen
Summary: "You wanna get rid of someone? Nicolas and Warrick your two neighborly gangsters also known as “Benriya” are for hire!" - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today's manga is one I had long been hoping to see scanned. When it was finally, recently, picked up, I was pleasantly surprised to see the group scanning it was Kotonoha. /Love explosion. This story is truly awesome. I just can't help loving a purely evil genius male lead. This story will, at some points, make you want to cry, and at others, make you want to laugh sadistically. The pure win of it. Complimented by the clean art style. This, to me, could not be more perfect. I can only hope you will enjoy it just as much.

「狼の口: ヴォルフスムント」
Wolfsmund

Mangaka: 久慈光久 (Kuji Mitsuhisa)
Genre: Action, Drama, Historical, Mature, Seinen, Tragedy
Summary: "Wolfsmund is a dark historical manga set in the early 14th century of Europe (Switzerland). The story revolves around the eponymous fortress in the St. Gotthard Pass which is ruled by a sadistic tyrant. Basically, each chapter deals with characters who for some reason have to cross the pass and who end up getting interrogated by the mentioned tyrant.

What sets this manga apart is the fact that there's rarely a happy ending for our protagonists. The author pulls no punches to show us just how brutal and inhuman the Middle Ages really were." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Posting a bit late but! Today's manga is by one of my favorite mangaka. It's a beautiful story, somewhat bittersweet, with nice, clean art. If you'd like to read something touching & sweet that will make you feel like a kid again than this is a great one. Aside from that, my one problem with the mangaka is that, for some odd reason, I always feel the older men are pedophiles although I know full well they are not, lol. But anyways. Hope you like it.

「千夏のうた」
Chinatsu no Uta

Mangaka: きたがわ翔 (Kitagawa Shou)
Genre: Drama, Psychological, Seinen, Slice of Life
Summary: "The series takes place at a certain Japanese location, where a girl moves in with her aunt to a new house after experiencing some more or less shocking events back home. There she meets a boy named Fuyuki, who she from then on spends a lot of time with. The thing special about Chinatsu is her voice, a voice which many seem to have heard before, but from where? What's so special about this girl, and what'll happen in the future?" - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today's manga is possibly a bit troubling (being as it's apocalyptic) with the state of unrest many people are currently in, however, I am a bit sadistic so I can't quite help myself. Aside from that the main story and the two others are very good and definitely worth a read. The art is also quite nice. I hope you like it.

「Hotel」

Mangaka: ボイチ (Boichi)
Genre: Drama, Sci-fi, Seinen, Tragedy
Summary: "Compilation of short stories:

• Hotel
It is the year 2272 A.D.
A computer continues to live on in order to complete a mission in a world where all life, including Mankind, has gone extinct. This is a record of those 27 million years of its heroic struggle.

• Diadem
A "Diadem" is a word for 'crown' that has its root in Greek. "Stephanos", which appeared in "Mandala" 01, was also a 'crown'. It seems that we could consider this the second work in a continuing series of shorts that should perhaps be called a "Crown series".

• Present
Hanako suffers from a terrible disease. After awakening from a deep slumber, Hanako has only three days to live. During those three days, her husband, Takao, must endure a heart-breaking experience, knowing that the person Hanako really loves isn't him." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Again, sorry for not posting lately. But I should be back for awhile now. (Unless something gets sprung on me last moment again.) At any rate! Today's manga is a wonderful psychological horror story with a somewhat realistic plot. It's a bit like Lord of The Flies and the Apocalypse crash into each other in a train in Japan and explode into twisted disaster and insanity of the human's soul and the earth's body. It's 10 volumes long and has an "interesting" ending. Hope you like it.

「ドラゴンヘッド」
Dragon Head

Mangaka: 望月ミネタロウ (Mochizuki Minetaro)
Genre: Adventure, Drama, Horror, Mystery, Psychological, Seinen
Summary: "In the horror of witnessing so many classmates perish before his eyes in a violent train wreck, Teru discovers two survivors in the tunnel: Ako and Nobuo. But salvation from this bloody carnage is far from their grasp. As they try to dig out from the wreck in order to come up with a plan to stay alive, the lack of light and food, combined with the stench of death and decay, will lead one member of the group down a dark and demented path. And with sudden, violent earthquakes shaking the tunnel, escaping to the outside world may lead them to an even greater danger..." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

I can not resist sharing this one. It has got to be one of the most funny, crazy, desperate mangas I have ever read, lol. It is so screwing and so pathetic that you can't stop your self from bursting out in hysterical laughter sometimes. It's up high on my list of favorites so it'd be great if you could enjoy it too, lol. Happy reading~

「ニコイチ」
Nicoichi

Mangaka: 金田一蓮十郎 (Kindaichi Renjuurou)
Genre: Comedy, Gender Bender, Romance, Seinen, Slice of Life
Summary: "This is a story about the love and hardships of a 29 year-old guy named Makoto Suda. Makoto is an ordinary office worker in every sense but one: in front of Takashi, his stepchild, he has disguised himself as a woman and played the role of a beautiful mother. Leading this life of a “fatherless family”, for some reason he falls in love with a woman. One morning he happens to see her on a crowded train but…" - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today's manga is one you most likely already know. I'd not be surprised if you've all read or watched it already. So what is it? It is the amazing, award winning hit manga "Mushishi". Full of amazing art, incredible style, fun and fascinating adventures, one of the most interesting plots out there, and a main character that you can't help but love, this manga has even been turned into a great live action movie. Hope you enjoy.

「虫师」
Mushishi

Mangaka: 漆原 友紀 (Urushibara Yuki)
Genre: Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Mystery, Psychological, Seinen, Supernatural, Tragedy
Summary: "They exist in the most unexpected places -- be it within your eyes and ears, under the floor and roof of your house, or the trees and flowers in your garden. They are everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time. Are they alive or not? Perhaps it is more apt to say they are beings who transcend the concept of life and death itself...Or could it be that they are what scientists today describe as the 'primordial ooze' - the origins wherein all life arose billions of years ago?
They are mushi.
Some wreak havoc in the lives of humans; while others bring them deliverance from suffering. Mushi are neither good, nor evil; for just like any other creature, they are merely striving to survive in this harsh, competitive world.

Ginko - a lone wanderer with an intriguingly reclusive personality, offers help and guidance to those plagued by mushi. This is the tale of his travels and exploits in a wondrous world populated by these mysterious entities.

Mushishi won an Excellence Prize at the 2003 Japan Media Arts Festival and the 2006 Kodansha Manga Award." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Well, I've been watching Saraiya Goyou all day. I'd watched the first episode when it was released, but never got around to finishing it. I'd also been looking around for the raws of the later volumes. I have the first two from the last time I went to Kinokuniya (but sadly I've had no time to go recently). After just looking it up on bakaupdates, I am sad to say that it is licensed by the evil Viz. I truly hate how they butcher manga. But if you don't mind their terrible translations and/or spending money or renting it from a library, etc then I really recommend this beautiful series. Basso (Ono Natsume-sensei) is always amazing, and it shows even more so in this great work. I hope you get the chance to read it and that when you do, you will enjoy it too. The anime is also great, so if you are unable to get the manga or simply wish to watch it, I recommend that as well.

「さらい屋五葉」
Saraiya Goyou

Mangaka: オノ・ナツメ (Ono Natsume)
Genre: Action, Historical, Seinen, Slice of Life
Summary: "Masterless samurai Akitsu Masanosuke is a skilled and loyal swordsman, but his naïve, diffident nature has time and again caused him to be let go by the lords who have employed him. Hungry and desperate, he becomes a bodyguard for Yaichi, the charismatic leader of a gang called "Five Leaves." Although disturbed by the gang's sinister activities, Masa begins to suspect that Yaichi's motivations are not what they seem. And despite his misgivings, the deeper he's drawn into the world of the Five Leaves, the more he finds himself fascinated by these devious, mysterious outlaws." - Baka-Updates

Daily BL

Today's BL is more of a crazy obsessive shounen ai (sense it's by the great Tezuka Osamu-sensei). That being said, the art isn't the best, but the story makes up for it. I've also heard of there being a drama or movie based off of this. I still need to check it out, but it seems to be pretty good. It has a large fandom and all, lol. Well! Enjoy!

「ムウ」
MW

Mangaka: 手塚 治虫 (Tezuka Osamu)
Genre: Action, Drama, Mature, Psychological, Seinen, Shounen Ai, Tragedy
Summary: "Gurai is a Japanese Catholic Priest, who is unable to give up his lifelong sexual relationship with Yuki, a beautiful and sadistic young master criminal. Yuki's malicious crimes have become more and more extreme over the years, claiming many innocent lives, and Gurai is tormented by guilt at his inability to stop them." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today's manga is one of the funniest, greatest, most crazy mangas I've ever read. I'm also recommending the anime, for it is amazing as well! What's it about? A young man, pursuing an agricultural career who can see and speak with germs! I learned quite a few scary things from this one, including the existence of a food known as Kiviak... Enjoy! (lol.)

「もやしもん」
Moyashimon

Mangaka: 石川雅之 (Ishikawa Masayuki)
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Gender Bender, School Life, Seinen
Summary: "Tadayasu Sawaki is a young man with a very strange ability: he can talk with bacteria/microscopic beings. He enrolls at Tokyo Agriculture College, where people seem to be just as abnormal as he is...

From Gekkoukan High Scans:
Meet Sawaki Tadayasu, second son of yeast preparation suppliers, whom is forced to go to an agricultural university and continue the family business. He has the unique ability to see microbes. He and his friend, Kei, are taken as students to the fermentation-process obsessed Itsuki-sensei. This manga follows Sawaki as he tries to make his way through university as discreetly as possible…which is pretty impossible if you’re as unique as he is.

Moyashimon won the 2008 Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize for Grand Prize and the 2008 Kodansha Manga Award for general manga.

It was also nominated for the 1st Manga Taishō in 2008." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today's manga is a bit different from what I usually recommend. It's great, though and definitely worth a read. The art is almost more "moe blob" style but the manga is not. It's a funny story about an older man working in an eroge company who has fallen in love with a middle school girl and is trying desperately to keep her from hating him. I hope you like it!

「未満れんあい」
Miman Renai

Mangaka: 高嶋ひろみ (Takashima Hiromi)
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Seinen
Summary: "Twenty-nine-year old Kurose Kazumi is a programmer in an eroge company and has played plenty of galges when he was younger, but he's completely uninterested in young girls. A chance encounter changes that when he meets a middle schooler who suddenly says she can't date him, but he realizes how cute she is and wants to keep her with him."-Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Yet again, I am in a technology hating mood. That being the case, this manga really works for me atm. The art is "different" and the story is a bit odd & possibly harder to follow than most, but it's pretty good and has a valid message. Hope you enjoy it.

「Marieの奏でる音楽」
Marie no Kanderu Ongaku

Mangaka: 古屋兎丸 (Furuya Usamaru)
Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Mature, Romance, Sci-fi, Seinen
Summary: "A fantasy epic of truly magnificent scale with gorgeous illustrations. In just two volumes, the author manages to create an incredibly rich and fascinating world that is full of wonders and enchanting beauties. A world in which men are watched over by the mechanical goddess Marie who at times appears on the sky. Marie's music brings people happiness and harmony. Their life is free from advanced technology and the longing for progress. The main story centers around Kai, a young man who develops a deep affection for Marie. His quest for enlightenment leads him inside Marie's mechanical body where he learns the unbelievable truth about her and his own world."-Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Sorry for the recent inactivity. This can hardly be called daily now. Sadly, though, it may continue this way for awhile longer. But anyways! Today's manga is one of my favorites. Lol, I just noticed two things; I've recommended two mangas that concern religion although I am non-religious, & looking at bakaupdats, this mangaka also created Arakawa. I'd never have guessed that even though it is so glaringly obvious, lol. So this manga, written before Arakawa, is just as great & side-splittingly funny. Enjoy!

「聖・おにいさん」
Saint Young Men

Mangaka: 中村 光 (Nakamura Hikaru)
Genre: Comedy, Seinen, Slice of Life
Summary: "Saint Oniisan is slice-of-life or divine-life, tale of Jesus and Buddha as they try to experience the modern world, in this case, Japan. The manga places a funny twist on religion, attitudes, culture and customs in Japan through the eyes of Jesus and Buddha.
You see Jesus and Buddha experiencing Asakusa, public baths, theme parks, and the internet. Throughout the manga, we get a little history of their divine greatness only to see their apparent insignificance in modern Japanese society. Suffice to say, before people can recognize that they’re actually Jesus and Buddha, people think of them as someone who looks like Johnny Depp or a guy with a button on his forehead. For real.

Saint Oniisan received the 2009 Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize for Short Work Manga.

Nominated for the 2nd Manga Taisho Award (2009)." - Baka-Updates

Daily Manga

Today's manga is epic in a different way. It may be considered historical, but it is actually set in modern times. It deal with the memories of the Earth. It's got great art and the story is very good. Once you read it, you will never forget it. It also has a sequel that has yet to be scanned. Enjoy!

「おもいでエマノン」
Emanon

Daily Manga

I really love those long, epic mangas so today I shall be posting yet another. Today's is actually based on one of the most famous books in the (western) world; Dante's Divine Comedy. It's more like an adaptation than anything. The art is fitting and the mangaka just so happens to be the ever famous Nagai Go. Enjoy.

「ダンテ神曲」
Dante's Divine Comedy

Mangaka: 永井豪 (Nagai Go)
Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Mature, Seinen, Supernatural
Summary: "Manga adaptation of Dante Alighieri's classic work "The Divine Comedy"." - Baka-Updates
